Banana Chocolate Chip Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting

Have things been a little too healthy around here lately? Well, its about to get a little crazy with this cake recipe. First, let me preface this by saying: I made this cake for myself. It was Mother’s Day, and I’m always looking for an excuse to make this cake. It’s amazingly moist, and I never imagined how obsessed I’d become with the banana and peanut butter combination. It’s heaven. I first made this recipe (which I originally found in Bon Appetit) for Hadley’s second birthday party, and have made it several times since. The cake is thicker, almost...

Walnut Brownie Cookies

I love taking off a random vacation day in the middle of the week. It breaks up the week and let’s me check off things on my to-do list, like cleaning out the flower beds and taking yet another trip to Target. Today wasn’t all business though. So this beef stew (originally made here by The Pioneer Woman) was perfect for Sunday night’s dinner. It was one of those last weekends you can cook comfort foods like this without sweating to death in our kitchen. From here on out, its mostly lighter, grilled meals throughout the summer. I’ve tried a bunch of different stew recipes but this one is a home run for my family. Why? Because the potatoes are separate. I’m...

Prepare yourselves: these are the best rolls you will ever eat. They’re soft, buttery and very rich. I have tried a million bread recipes, and nothing comes close when it comes to taste and actual ease of baking. Yes, they’re even relatively easy to make. You just need time. There’s two full 1 1/2 hour rises so you can’t remember at 3 p.m. that you wanted rolls with dinner (which is what I did yesterday). I rushed the first rise, and they were still delicious, but to get the full effect, start them in the early afternoon. So here’s...
