Whew! That was quite possibly the busiest weekend we’ve had in all of 2015. It was a ton of fun, but it took me all day on Monday to recover (and de-Christmas the house!).
Well, the tree is out. The pine needles are vacuumed and we’re in full swing on my winter break. We’re supposed to get a ton of snow today so we’re going to be staying close to home, baking something delicious and still cleaning (always cleaning!). Every day of break, Hadley is doing some extra school work (just like her mommy – actually still likes school!) and Bryn and I are working on some other little craft projects. So we have plenty to do to keep us busy! I’m working on some fun recipe testing for a guest post on another blog (coming soon!) and more projects for Whole Foods. It’s very exciting and going to be a fun 2016.
So here’s the recap of our super crazy Christmas weekend!
On Christmas morning, we woke up and did presents and breakfast with just to the four of us. It was really low key and very chill. The girls opened stuff from my side of the family (their aunts and my parents) too so we had quite a bit.
We hung out for a while, played with toys then took Beau to the dog park. Hadley realized if she threw toys over the fence that Trevor would jump over and get them so I had to snap of a photo of him getting back over.
Christmas was super warm and we grilled some venison tenderloin and watched a movie. It was really great to just hang out and have a low maintenance kind of day (especially with the busy weekend ahead of us).
The next morning we got up early and took Beau to the dog park then headed to the Gowan’s for family Christmas with Trevor’s side of the family. We have quite a few kids on that side of the family (all girls!) so its never a dull moment. It ranges from Hadley (5) to Georgia (6 months).
Trevor made each of our nieces a little Adirondack chair so that was a really cute photo op!
On Sunday morning, we got up bright and early and drove to the Southern Tier of New York (where I’m from). We met up with my high school BFF Jane and her husband Jonathan and their new baby Sam. It was so great to see her (they live in Denver and we don’t get to see each other that often). I’m totally bummed because I left my phone in the car so I didn’t snap a photo of the amazingly cute baby. I’m really excited because we’ll be seeing each other in Colorado this summer (yeah for fun travel!)
After leaving Jane’s we headed over to Trevor’s family’s farm nearby and had dinner with his family. They have an organic dairy farm, and Bryn was smitten with the cows (seriously, the kid was chasing them going “Here, Kitty Kitty”) We toured the farm, had some dinner then hit the road for the drive home.
We just had a chill day and we all took nice, long naps this afternoon. It was great. The girls are getting to a fun age where they actually play together and can have fun. Bryn opened up a hair salon in her room last night and did our hair. I love winter break 🙂
I’ll be back tomorrow with more, but I hope everyone is having a great start to their week!
