I think one of my absolute favorite things about throwing a kid’s birthday party is the “kid food” I get to make. Normally, our kids eat what we eat. But a child’s birthday party is the best time to embrace being a kid again and making some really fun food. Enter the Monster Cookie Dough Dip that I just made for Hadley’s 5th birthday.
Okay, so it really looks like a bowl of cookie dough (which it essentially is), but it has some fun dippers and a cream cheese base that makes it a little more spreadable than actual cookie dough. Also, it has zero eggs in it so you’re not playing Russian roulette with the dip like you when you take one too many tastes of regular cookie dough. I found this recipe originally on The Girl Who Ate Everything, and followed it pretty much as is. Although, in my version, I’ve cut down on the amount of oats. The dip is a lot less spreadable with so many oats as originally called for. Also, get this out of the fridge about an hour and a half before you want to serve it to give time for the butter and cream cheese in the dip to soften.

One year ago: Oven Baked Pork and Apples
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened (1 package)
- ½ cup butter, slightly softened
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp. brown sugar
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups old-fashioned oats
- ⅔ cup plain M&Ms
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- With a stand mixer, beat the cream cheese, butter, and peanut butter until smooth.
- Add in the powdered sugar, brown sugar, flour, and vanilla.
- Mix in the oats.
- Add the M&Ms and chocolate chips.
- Store in the refrigerator until serving.
- Serve with pretzels, graham crackers, or apple slices.
