Are you looking for a new summer cocktail?
Up until a few months ago, I’d never had any drinks with with elderflower, but now it seems to be popping up quite a bit.
This new (to me) cocktail mix compound from Bittermilk is really great and very unique. I’m completely in love with their #2 formula – Tom Collins with Elderflower and Hops. It has a flavor that is really hard to describe – acidic from the lemon, floral from the elderflower, but bitter from the hops.
I really don’t like sugary-sweet cocktails. They’re no buzz and all hangover for me. This drink cuts down on the sugary, super-fake tasting mixers, and replaces that with the all-natural ingredients, which is lemon juice, water, organic cane sugar, elderflower essence and Centennial hops. The result with tequila, mint and lime is a refreshing summer cocktail that is a great beat-the-heat kind of night cap.
Note: You can mix this versatile mixer with your favorite hard alcohols, including vodka and gin. I’ve also had it with Prosecco, which was really great. I just prefer the tequila this time of year.
Read on for the recipe.
Elderflower Tequila Cocktail
- Juice of 1/2 lime
- 5-6 mint leaves, torn
- 2 shots of agave tequila (I used Omeca Altos)
- 2 shots Bittermilk #2 cocktail mix compound
Combine the lime and the mint in a cocktail glass, and muddle with the end of a wooden spoon. Add a couple ice cubes. Pour in tequila and Bittermilk and stir everything together. Drink and enjoy!
