My biggest pet peeve about smoothies is that most aren’t complete meals. You drink the smoothie, and then you’re left starving two hours later. I’m trying hard to be good these days and not snack a lot during meals so I set out to make a complete breakfast smoothie.
As luck would have it, I was contacted by my absolute favorite kitchen store Williams-Sonoma to participate in their Smoothie of the Week challenge. This week it’s all about weird combinations, and about bringing different ingredients together to make a really delicious smoothie. So this is where things get weird. At first glance, peanut butter and spinach don’t really seem like they’d really gel well. Then add avocado. Its different, but it works! You essentially just taste peanut butter, banana and some creaminess from the avocado.
So I challenge you, dear readers. Put this in the blender and you will be in peanut butter and banana heaven. Also, check out the blenders on the Williams-Sonoma website. They have some amazing ones, and this blogging lady might need an upgrade soon.

- 1 1/4 cup almond milk
- 1 scoop organic vanilla protein powder
- 1 1/2 tbsp. natural peanut butter
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup spinach
- 1/2 avocado, sliced
- Put all the ingredients into the blender in the order that they're listed. Blend thoroughly (it could take a couple minutes) then pour into a glass and enjoy. This makes enough for one good-sized smoothie.
