On the Road: North Carolina vacation recap

DSCN0455Well, we’re back home and I’m tackling the days-long job of unpacking. I really do love to travel, but I really hate packing and unpacking. It’s probably my least favorite chore in life.

We had such a great time touring North Carolina for the last week and seeing friends and family. We stopped first in Huntersville and visited our friends Matt and Claire. We had a great day out on their boat in Lake Norman, and I’m pretty sure they should rent that thing out to kids who don’t nap well. We’re 2 for 2 with Bryn taking naps on the boat while cruising around. It’s awesome. Then we moved on to my parent’s house in Wilmington, spent some time at the beach and explored some delicious food options around town. I told you about Britt’s already, but I’ll review one more breakfast spot later this week. It was a great spot for a hearty breakfast so stay tuned!

We also took a spin in both of my dad’s classic cars, which was really fun. I drove both, but definitely preferred his 1966 Ford Mustang. His Dodge Super Bee was a bit tricky for me since its stick shift and my only experience driving a manual transmission is on my friend Jane’s Honda Civic in high school. A little different :) Anyways, we had an awesome trip and despite some crappy traffic on the way home, we’re back in sunny Saratoga and ready for some more family time later this week! I’m hoping to rally everyone for some berry picking, which is in its high season here in New York!

I’ll be back tomorrow morning with a treat I made for Trevor for a belated Father’s Day celebration.
