Weekend Recap: Saratoga Wine and Food Festival Edition

IMG_5162Hey everyone! I hope everyone had a fun, relaxing weekend doing whatever you like to do!

I had a really fun Saturday afternoon at the Saratoga Wine and Food Festival with my friend Leigh. We had gone last year, and I was really excited to score some tickets from the awesome folks at Healthy Living Market. They were a big sponsor of the event and had several booths to sample food (hello, pumpkin whoopie pies!). So there were hundreds of booths from restaurants and beverage distributors.

So here are some of the highlights:

Desserts and treats in the Healthy Living VIP tent – those whoopie pies were awesome and there was a cookie dough brownie that I would love to try to recreate at home! I also had some really good appetizers as well (pictured above).

IMG_5165Compressed and smoked “hot dog” from Capital City Gastropub –  The dog was actually made of carrots and it was downright delicious topped with jazzed up hot dog topics. This is the second year in a row that the food at the Gastropub’s booth has wowed me so a trip to their Albany restaurant is definitely in order!

Cocktails from Lejay Cassis – This was my first cassis cocktail and I LOVED it. They had two to try – one with champagne and another with lemonade and they were both amazingly delicious. I loved the black currant flavor mixed with the lighter mixer, and either drink would be perfect with a grown-up brunch or lighter dinner. We’ll definitely be getting a bottle for the Gowan household!

Another delicious boozy treat was Spiked Seltzer. I drink a ton of seltzer right now, and this was a great low carb alcoholic version.

Overall, it was a fun event! Its great to try dishes from local restaurants that I may not have visited yet.

A big thanks to Healthy Living Market for the tickets! And, yes, even though they gave me the tickets, all opinions are my own!
